“You should eat animal fat”

I chat with the owner of a small dumpling restaurant in Dalian.

It’s November, 2014. My husband and I stay a week in Dalian with our baby. Every morning, we have breakfast at a small dumpling restaurant. They have a choice of dumplings, congee, tea eggs and pickled vegetables. I always order vegetarian dishes.

One day, the shop owner inquires: “Do you feed your baby milk formula or breast milk?”
I answer: “He drinks breast milk.”
She tells me: “You should eat animal fat. Your milk supply won’t be enough if you don’t.”

Has anyone ever told you that you should eat meat?
