Yinchuan: Haibao Park and Pagoda (China Travel)

Located just outside Yinchuan city in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, this park and pagoda are worth a visit if you’re interested in ancient Chinese architecture. Pagodas are often true gems, as they are a unique type of building not found in Europe.

This pagoda was no different, and it dates back many centuries, although its exact age is unknown. It is known that it was destroyed by an earthquake and rebuilt several hundred years ago.

Haibao Pagoda is located within a temple, and you can pay an entry fee of 10 yuan if you’re interested in taking a closer look. If you’re traveling around China and want to save money, you can also simply view it from the surrounding park, which had no entrance fee when I visited (in January 2026). As far as I understand, most parks no longer charge entrance fees as they did in the past, making walking through parks an enjoyable and accessible pastime in China.

The pagoda is said to be Buddhist, and the temple surrounding it also appeared to be Buddhist.

During my visit, the park featured people walking on the frozen river, and they seemed to be having a lot of fun.

I do not recommend walking on the ice if you want to stay safe, as there is always a risk of it breaking.
