It’s August, 2015. I’m in Austria with my one-year-old son. We’re out at a Chinese restaurant in Vienna with friends. As we browse the menu, my son spots pictures of Dim Sum (Chinese-style dumplings) and gets visibly excited.
When the dumplings finally arrive, his excitement turns into a full-blown tantrum—because I’m not feeding him the dumplings fast enough with chopsticks!
Oops. That’s when it hits me: he must have missed Chinese food terribly while we’ve been in Austria. Not yet able to express this in words, his frustration spilled out in the only way he knew how.
It’s clearly time for us to return to China, reunite with his daddy, and savor some homemade dumplings.
Do you miss Chinese food when you’re away from China?
