Life in Siping has been stressful, but not too exciting lately. I have lived here from 2014 to 2019, and have moved back in 2025. It has never been one of my favorite cities, because it isn’t very exciting to live here. People aren’t truly doing much, except for stay home, go to the market, supermarket or barbecue or into restaurants, and in winter, it is too cold to go anywhere. Even then, friendships can’t form because people keep to themselves and see foreigners as truly different from them. It is a bit sad, but there’s nothing one can do to change these kinds of surroundings, particularly if the reason you are living here is because your kids are here, and you can’t just leave the city and move to another one.
