Gender prediction: Does carrying a boy make a difference from carrying a girl?

No matter where you are when you’re pregnant, people love to predict if your baby is going to be a boy or a girl. Gender prediction has a long tradition in both Europe, as well as China.
People in China have predicted that I’m going to have a baby boy because I liked to eat salty rather than spicy food during pregnancy. According to this theory, almost all babies born in Austria would have to be boys, since Austrians don’t traditionally eat spicy food. And almost all babies born in Sichuan, Yunnan, Hunan or Guangxi province in China would have to be girls, since people in these places eat mainly spicy food.
Others have guessed that I’m going to have a baby girl because my skin hasn’t turned darker after getting pregnant.
People in Austria will predict the sex of your baby by looking at how you carry your bump.
All the predictions have made me wonder: Does carrying a boy indeed make a difference from carrying a girl? I ask my mother, who gave birth to 4 girls and 4 boys.
She tells me that she never let the doctor tell her the sex of the baby before the birth. The only time she guessed it would be a boy was with my youngest brother, her 8th child. She could feel that his feet were really big, which is the reason why. Other than that, she never noted any differences between carrying a boy or a girl, is what she tells me.
I don’t know if any of the gender predictions are correct. Thanks to eating lots of sour dishes during my pregnancy with him, I have given birth to a baby boy. His sex probably would have been male anyways, though, even if I had eaten lots of spicy dishes during my pregnancy.
