One day, not too long after our wedding and honeymoon, my husband and I are at work. When we finish work, one of our co-workers chats with my husband. My husband tells me later what they talked about:

The co-worker asked, “So, when is it due?”
My husband answered, “When is what due?”
“You know, you and your wife…”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“The baby! When is the expected date of delivery?”
“Huh. That’s not why we married.”
“Oh. So she’s not pregnant?”

“When Is the Expected Date of Delivery?”

Our co-worker isn’t the only one who thought we married because I was pregnant (I wasn’t). Because we got married after having been together for less than half a year, it is hard for many to believe that we simply got married out of love.

Has anyone ever thought you married for different reasons?
