He tells me:
“Decades ago, I used to work as a soldier in the Austrian army. I had a lot of weapons, such as rifles, at home. One day, I found my best friend, a man older than me, dead in his flat. He had died a natural death. After this incident, I put all of my weapons away so I would not harm myself. I was afraid I would take my own life.
During my divorce, this friend had cared for me as though he were my own dad. He often bought food for me and put it into my fridge and made sure I always had to eat. He was a really good person.”
